Dali Automatic - 1993. Originally recorded and released in limited quantities on cassette tape in 1993. By 1993, the Faith Healers had changed their name to Dali Automatic to avoid confusion with a similarly named English band. David Garrett and Sean Reagan had long been a part of the Faith Healers/Dali Automatic line-up along with Brian Petty and myself. These songs were recorded in a proper studio owned and operated by an engineer who I don't think really knew what to make of us. I think the general feeling was that we were amusing, harmless freaks but far from "legit musicians" (in fairness, we were a woolly bunch of dudes and it was likely his first experience recording stereo bong hits into his very expensive German microphones). Included is the original version of "Captain" or "Captain Of My Pain". For me, it was probably the song that most distinguished the line between Faith Healers-past and Dali Automatic-present. There's some really good weirdness going on throughout. I suggest headphones. -Wade
